Bad luck during Jumping Amsterdam

A few weeks ago Joyce and Showboy qualified for the big event Jumping Amsterdam. Yesterday evening they arrived in Amsterdam to compete at 10.22 PM at Prix St. Georges level.

'During the warming up Showboy was super. To be honest, he felt better than ever before at a show. When it was my turn to enter the arena, he was so afraid. I couldn't ride around the ring. He often is a bit spooky but I can manage that and then he is okay. I didn't recognize his behaviour, he really was scared. I still was busy to get him around the ring and the judge rang the bell so I had to enter. The beginning of the test was pretty good. I felt the tension but I could manage it. In the extended walk it went completely wrong. This exercise counts twice and I just had to go in the direction he was so afraid. This cost a lot of points of course..
During the canter tour it was clear it actually was bed time for me as I didn't ride enough and we got mistakes in the tempi changes. Too bad of course but Showboy is a topper and there were good parts in the test as well. After all, it was super to compete at Jumping Amsterdam!' Joyce says.
